Acne Analysis & Consultation

When you arrive for your First-Time Acne Client appointment, we will briefly discuss your history with acne, how long you’ve had it, and what products or medications you’ve used past & present to help clear your skin. 

I will offer an introduction into how our acne program works, which does require regularly scheduled in-office treatments as well as an acne-specific home care regimen that we establish based on your skin type. I will then provide an estimate of how much the treatment and products will cost.

From there, we will dive into a 20-min presentation on acne where you will receive a mini lesson on what acne is - this includes some of the most common acne triggers and major pitfalls that clients encounter while on their clearing journey. 

The treatment you will receive at your first appointment will involve a skin analysis as well as a determination on what type of acne you have. Additionally, we perform a serum sensitivity test, as well as an exfoliating treatment in the form of a chemical peel or enzyme.

The term “chemical peel” can be intimidating to some, especially if you’ve never had one, or you’ve only seen what social media portrays of the more severe medium depth or deep skin peels administered by physicians. At Jasmine Laurél Skincare we use what are called “superficial chemical peels” which are considered a light exfoliation only affecting the superficial layers of the epidermis. While you may notice a little bit of dryness or tightness in your skin over the few days following a treatment, your skin will not be peeling off in sheets, and there is no ‘downtime’ with a superficial peel. However, we do ask that you avoid sweating, hot tubs, and sun exposure for the next 24 hours so please plan accordingly.

If you arrive at your appointment with really dry, flaky skin then we will opt to do a gentler exfoliation called an enzyme. After your treatment, I'll walk you through the step-by-step instructions of your newly established homecare protocol.

Should you decide to move forward with both the consultation and treatment, the appointment will last about 90 minutes.
