  • What is Electrolysis?

    Electrolysis is the only form of permanent hair removal that is approved by the FDA. Permanent hair removal is achieved over a series of treatments by inserting a hair-thin probe into the hair follicle, treating that hair follicle with electrical current for approximately 3-4 seconds, epilating (or tweezing) the hair out, and moving to the next hair follicle to repeat the process. 

  • Is Electrolysis painful?

    It can be uncomfortable for some people. It depends on how coarse your hair is and your personal pain tolerance. The goal of an electrologist is to find a tolerable setting that is strong enough to effectively treat each hair follicle to prevent future hair growth. 

  • Is hair color or skin color a concern with electrolysis treatments?

    Unlike laser hair removal which can only treat hair of darker pigments, electrolysis can be used to treat hair of any color. In addition, electrolysis is safe for darker skin tones - however, PIH (Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation) can be a concern during the healing process in people with darker skin. 


  • How long does it take to heal from each treatment?

    Normally any redness or swelling experienced after a treatment will resolve within an hour. However, sometimes when dealing with coarser hairs and/or sensitive skin types, the healing time can last 2-7 days.

  • How many treatments will it take to remove my hair permanently?

    There is no fixed number of treatments - the number of treatments is unique to every individual based on how much hair you want removed, your pain tolerance, your financial budget, how often you can receive treatments, hormonal imbalances, etc.
